Smell of Tedium

Liquid drips, insipidly, from puncture holes in various colored broken rubber gloves, falling into water buckets at regular intervals—measuring time, value-coding it like a clock in any other workplace; juxtaposed to this staccato rhythm is the smell of detergent and the stillness of the scene. The artwork reflects feminized labor through the type of housework par excellence—cleaning.

By using common household products as my major art material. I intend to bring this invisible, daily reproductive labor within the household to the public sphere, and highlight the value and cost of care work. Experimenting with non-visual media, sound and smell, I create an alternative immersive environment to give visitors a sense of the sensations of being disciplined for such work.
